The project implemented by FRDL and SATMA was finished

The project implemented by the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy (FSLD) and the Georgian Association of Local Officials (SATMA) was developed in response to the growing demand for t raining in many areas in the course of democratic transformations taking place in Georgia since November 2003. The project consists in sharing Polish experience in the methodology and provision of training and project management. It serves the purpose of improving the competence of Georgian employees of training and consulting institutions and organisations that render consulting and training services to public administration and NGOs. The effective transfer of knowledge and skills and, in the longer term, the shaping of the attitudes of training beneficiaries and consulting services as well as practical support for the foundations of the social dialogue depend to the large extent on the quality of trainers’ and consultants’ work.

The programme covered 30 trainers/consultants co-operating with SATMA.

Objectives:

•  Improving the efficiency of training offered by the Georgian organisation SATMA to public administration officials and the representatives of NGOs; and

•  Introducing project management methods into SATMA’s standards and practice.

Implementation:

•  Training for SATMA’s employees and partners in training methodology involving active teaching methods;
•  Training in project management;

•  Study tour of Georgian trainers/consultants to Poland.

AiA-2 was finished but AiA is continiuing

The joint project of the Local Economic Professionals Association (SRGG, Poland ) and the Georgian Association of Local Officials (SAMTA, Georgia) was again among the winners of the competition of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of the project was to assist Georgia with integration in the Euro Union.

The project “ AIA (Aktywizacja I Aktywnose) - the innovation instruments for cities’ management" - included the following:

-   Adaptation of the Euro Union standards for the Georgia realities

-   Improvement of management of communal services

-   Implementation of the methodology of Capital Investment Plans for the cities during the long-term period

-   Preparation of the tourism information system for the Georgian capital

-   Preparation of the information center for Small and Medium Enterprises in Tbilisi

-   Preparation of practical manuals for officials, experts and students in the above mentioned spheres

The results of the project are available for Georgian and an international user by means of Internet and it is increase the transparency of the local government.

The project was supported by the City-Hall of Tbilisi and the Polish Embassy in Georgia
